CommentThe Blue-winged Parrot may be tricky to separate from other Neophema (Grass-Parrot) species. This image shows a juvenile bird, with its orange beak (not mentioned in several field guides) yet to darken, and the blue frontal band just starting to develop. A BirdLife Australia ID brochure, available at www.birdlife.org.au/documents/OBP-idbrochure.pdf, is an excellent guide to identifying the Neophema species in the field.
