CommentI first saw this fledgling and its brother/sister out of the nest on 16 October after hearing them for a few weeks 'cheeping' in the nest located about 4 metres above ground near to top of an old Hakea next to our driveway (they seem to move their nest each year to a different location in the garden). One of the fledglings is a stronger flyer than the other. The weaker of the two was spending dangerous amounts of time on the ground in the first few days but regularly visited by its parents and encouraged by them to move to a safer height. In fact, I almost stood on it one day, as it was well camouflaged against the garden mulch.
EquipmentCanon 700D with 100-400mm at 275mm
1/200 sec, f8, ISO 800. Initially processed in DPP 4 to apply digital lens optimiser, noise reduction, exposure and lighting adjustments and initial sharpening. Finished in PSE by noise reducing background and sharpening bird only.
