CommentThis juvenile bird stood out because it looked like it had a banded tail, which is not usual. On closer examination, I realised it was a result of the tail feathers not being fully grown. The tail feathers on an adult are all a similar length and the white tips therefore all line up at the end of the tail.
EquipmentCanon 700D with 100-400mm at 400mm handheld
1/800 sec, f8, ISO 800. Initially processed in DPP to sharpen and reduce noise in overall image as well as fix colour balance, exposure and lighting. Finished in PSE where bird only sharpened and background noise reduced.
