CommentOne of a set of three images of the same bird submitted to BLP. Note the aerial for satellite transmission. The cord holding the transmitter has slipped between the upper and lower mandible. (The transmitter was subsequently removed by the project team. The bird showed unusual reluctance to fly but an approaching predatory Purple Swamphen forced it to take off. It only flew a short distance. Note that it was forced to fly with its beak open and with its lower mandible tucked in against its breast.
