High speed flash arrangement: Master (+ Beamer) @1/16 power. Remotes A and B @ 1/32 (-1/3 EV), C @ 1/8 - for background illum only.
Processed Nikon NX-D: Crop saved as 16 Bit TIF. PSE 14: Cloned-out small obtrusive blossom, re-sized for web, final very minor sharpen.
Thanks to a high frame rate and reduced output from the flashes, I managed to catch the wingtips moving at maximum speed ie. at the middle of the wing stroke. Happily, after a prolonged period of trial and error I was able to nail this high-speed action without ghosting - a first for me.
Finally, I particularly like the detail in the back and shoulders - something we rarely see in this tiny bird.
