CommentThis is the first of an intended series of resubmissions intended to replace many of my photos on the Birdlife Photography site with versions with improved cropping and processing. This one now has cleaner colours, less noise and better shadow detail, more open cropping and placement in frame to better show part of the expansive wading environment at Tamar Island. This bird has well-developed breeding plumes.

EF 100-400 L IS Mk1 zoom at 400mm, handheld
Shutter priority, 1/1250 sec, f13, ISO400
