CommentThere are 3 sexually dimorphic species of frigatebird on CI. In addition juvenile birds undergo gradual plumage changes over 4 to 5 years which can make identification challenging.
The CI Frigatebird breeds on on CI and the female is the largest of the group. Apart from a pink bill and orbital ring the most distinguishing feature of the female CI Frigatebird when observed in flight, is the black hood and large black axillary tab that extends onto the lateral breast.
