CommentI was lying flat on the sand when this Grasswren hopped out in front of me. Balancing a prime telephoto lens, I was unable to move backwards and so have ended up with a closer close-up of a Grasswren than I ever thought possible. I was impressed with the alertness of the bird and the typical stance resulting from its sudden movement and stopping. The early morning sun on the front of the bird has given real depth and a somewhat dreamy hue to the feather colouring. I like the blurring of the sand in the foreground and the background which only emphasises the clear little mounds of sand where its tiny feet are hidden. I am also pleased with the overall sharpness which accentuates the feather details of this species.
