CommentThere are many reasons for entering this image. 1. It was definitely my best shot of 2023. 2. The golden hour light was superb and highlighted the orange tones in the plumage. 3. The reflection is superb. 4. The action is extremely rare to see let alone capture. This threatened pose came when a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo flew in and landed in a tree behind me squawking. The Snipe did not like and went into threatened mode. 5. The species is one of Australia's rarest, most endangered and secretive birds. 6. The bird is sharp in all the right places, correctly exposed, accurately post produced and the shot is well composed. I did expand the canvas with Gen AI as the right side was too to tight when this action happened very quickly and caught me by surprise. Processed in DXOPureRaw, ACR (tweaked BPS Prosets) In PS crop and subtle vignette for pop. Female juvenile was confirmed by local birding experts.
