Little Pied Cormorant

Little Pied Cormorant
Comment:There are several features of this photo that appeal to me. The orange-yellow bill is the only spot of colour in what is otherwise essentially a monochrome image. The neutral grey background and even light are ideal for bringing out the detail in both the black and white feathers. I like how the vertical curve of the body (with the right facing head and the left facing breast/belly) sits with the horizontal curve of the branch, which provides a balance to the image.
