Australian Pelican ( Pelecanus conspicillatus)

This clip was shot at 100 frames a second and played back at 25. It will give you an idea of how effective (or other wise) slow motion can be. DSLRs are perfectly capbale of doing this and it does help hide any unevenness in your panning.

I have a soft spot for the way Pelicans waggle their tails after landing. It makes me smile. I guess I'm easily amused.

Very nice! The slo-mo is very effective.

Very nice work. Les. So did you make this with your dedicated video camera or your DSLR? Sorry if I missed that detail somewhere. Whatever you used, it maintained excellent focus lock even on the water.

Thanks Glenn, It's all manual. The exposure changed during the shot too. I should have put the shutter speed up to 400th of a second, but it was set to 100th and I forgot to adjust it for the slow mo.
