Hi everyone,
Thank you for allowing me to join the group. I live in Melbourne.
My interest in photography started with my love for travelling and nature. However, it was six years ago, when I retired, that I made my project to learn how to use a full frame Nikon camera. I started with the Nikon D750 and currently have a Nikon D850.
It has been quite a challenging learning curve, still is, and I love it! I enjoy going for walks in nature and slowly learning about the beautiful birds we have in this country. I use the Nikkor AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR handheld, always trying to find the balance between a fast shutter speed and too high ISO.
I’m currently learning about monitor calibration. Any help with this aspect, or any aspect of wildlife photography is most welcome.

HI Rosario and welcome to BLP. It looks like you have set yourself up well to embark on your journey into bird photography. You'll find a lot of resources on our website under the 'Resources' page. Some will only be accessible when you are logged in to our site. We also have regular online presentations that are both instructive and inspiring. A notice is sent out to members when one is scheduled so you won't miss out. We also have a Forum for exchange of ideas and for members to ask questions. So there's lots to keep you busy. You can also make direct contact with any of our committee members whose details appear under the 'About us' page or make contact with other members through the 'Contact Photographer' button when an member's photo is opened on our site (not all members have this turned on though).

In terms of monitor calibration, there are online sites that have tools to enable you to calibrate your monitor by eye, looking at the images presented and making adjustments to your monitor controls (a search with your favourite search engine will find these easily). For a more accurate and reproducible calibration, hardware devices can be easily bought from camera suppliers. Brands include Spyder and Calibrite. Of course, the quality of your monitor is important too. For best results, you should use a monitor that can display a wide colour gamut - at least the full sRGB palette and it should use an IPS panel which enables viewing from various angles without altering the image quality or appearance. Size and screen resolution are also important but a little more complex to outline here - if you'd like more on that, please contact me directly.

Best of luck and I'll look forward to seeing your photos when you are ready to start posting (a Critique gallery is also available if you are having problems with a photo or technique).
