I am also, like Rob Solic, eagerly awaiting opportunities to go further beyond our 5km allowable radius in Melbourne, and to visit Werribee Treatment Plant again. I am a relatively new member, having joined about a year or so ago, indeed relatively new to bird watching itself, having discovered all the joys to be found in photographing and learning about birds only about two years ago. I have greatly appreciated the moderators' feedback on improving my images, and viewing all the amazing photos of fellow members. One of the paradoxical effects of the lockdown has been in my taking a closer interest in the relatively common birds in my own local parks and to discover so much about them that I was missing before. I am a retired academic and now have much more time to explore the bird world. However, I am constrained by an osteoarthritic neck problem that makes some aspects of taking ultra sharp bird photos a challenge, especially having to avoid carrying heavy telephoto lenses and tripods.

What the lockdown has taught me is that there are many wonderful photo opportunities within my 5km radius if I simply take the time to explore places that I would forsake otherwise. Many people that I communicate with on Instagram have taken some magic photos along the Merri Creek trail and the surrounding parks and gardens around your area. Glad your 'giving it a go' despite your neck problems!

Thanks, Rob, and have certainly found the Merri Creek rewarding. After this lockdown is all over and Werribee Treatment Plant is reopened, it would be good to liaise on a possible joint trip there if you were interested.
