Hi all.

As an introduction, I’m a complete newcomer to birding but I’m a long-time amateur photo nerd who takes quite a lot of photos in other domains such as events and motorsports. I live in Werribee and have only recently discovered the wonders of the Western Treatment Plant, so of course I’m now hooked. I’ve use a Canon R5 with an RF 600 f11 but I also have a 5DMkIV with an EF 70-300 Ff4-5.6 L as my spare. I’m using DxO Photolab for post processing, although toying with the siren call of LR/PS along with DxO PureRAW as a plugin. I’ve already had a reasonable browse of the BLP website and there are some great resources. The Critique gallery is fascinating, lots to learn there. I look forward to sharing and learning with you all.

Best Regards
Charles

Hi Charles,

Welcome to BirdLife Photography. I look forward to seeing some great shots from WTP - and maybe I'll bump into you there sometime, when we're allowed out again!

Thanks Rob.

If they'd only extend the lockdown radius to 10km I could get to WTP! Pls put a good word in with Dan.

Quick question - I see the BLP Facebook group. What's the 'concept'? I.e. the positioning and purpose vs the website. There seems to be some overlap in people posting to both but not a lot.

Thanks

Charles

Our Facebook page - member-only for posting; but I see you've discovered that - is a less formal site which allows more social contact between members. In particular, there's essentially no technical requirements for posting photos, except for our standard ethical requirements and no nesting birds. It also allows other members to comment on photos - which this site only allows in the Critique gallery.

Dear Charles,

A belated welcome from another Melbourne based member, and one who makes frequent visits to Werribee Treatment Plant, lockdowns permitting. May bump into you there.

Best wishes,

Michael
