When posting a new topic, please ensure that you select the correct category for your post in the top drop-down box of the edit window. The default entry is the first category shown on the All Categories page; this is unlikely to be the category that you want. The Category drop-down box will be present if you click the New Topic tab in the Forum menu; if you are viewing a particular category of the Forum and you use the New Topic button in the Category Header section, the drop-down box will not be present, and your new post topic will automatically appear in the category that you are viewing.
Having trouble identifying a bird? Hopefully, someone here can help.

Since you're reading this, you've found your way to the correct Category to post your picture for help with identification.

First, click the New Topic button in the category heading area:

[Note: There is also a New Topic tab at the top of the Forum. If you use this, the New Topic window (see next screenshot) will have an additional field at the top, for Category. The default entry there will not be this Category; you must select the correct Category in the drop-down list in that field.]

Enter the Subject - this will be the title of the Topic which appears in the list in the Forum Category.
Optionally, select the question mark icon in the Topic Icon row.
Enter the details of your question in the Message box. Please include the location where the image was taken, the date, and any notes about behaviour and/or habitat that may assist with identification.

Click the button; which will open the attachments section where you can add your image, either via the button which will open a file select dialog, or by drag/dropping a file into the drop area. Click the button which appears under the thumbnail of the file you have just added to insert the image into the body of the message, at the current cursor position; if you omit this step, your image will still be available for people to see, but they will have to click on the attachment to your post. You can include more than one image in a post, if you wish; just add/insert additional image files.

There are no dimension limits for images submitted in a forum post; however, there is a file size limit of 2.5 MB; you will likely need to crop/resize your original image to meet this requirement before posting it.
