I took these two photographs at Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast back in February. I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm for me what bird it is. I think it's a shining bronze cuckoo based on the green tinge in the wings in the photo the bird is looking away from the camera and the barred under-tail feathers in the shot looking towards the camera (a juvenile perhaps?). But the beak has thrown me off a bit as I would expect it to be a little more curved. Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hi Ian,
IMO the second image is a Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo. The rufous sides to the base of the upper tail is quite evident . This is a distinguishing feature of the Horsfield's BC. Also HBC have buff scaling on the wings which can be seen on the bird in the second image. It is an adult bird but the lovely irridescence of the wings cant be seen in the photo as it was obviously taken in the shade. I suspect the first image is, as you say ,a juvenile . Hope this is of some help.
Cheers

Agree this is a Horsfields. I would have expected the barring on the breast to be much more substantial for the Shining. Neither photo shows the darkish band through the eye of the Horsfields very prominently, so I would think that both are sub-adult, but happy to be corrected on this.
