CommentThis is another view of a Black-shouldered Kite that just a few minutes before had been enthralling me with its hovering ability, remaining almost stationary in the sky as it stared down into the grassland in search of some prey. Here it is in flight, coming towards me, as it does a wide circle around the grasslands near the Austin Rd Bird Hide. The black shoulder of its wings is very evident, while the faint rusty ring around its neck and brown eyes suggest a juvenile.

[Moderator's note: the "rusty ring is not prominent enough for a juvenile bird; it's more likely to be a young adult.]
